That's not a palace, this is a palace

Seeing this chateau fill the view as you turn the corner actually fills you with excitement as to what might be inside. And for the garden outside.

What started as a hunting lodge grew into an amazing display of wealth, privilege and power. Of course, this wasn't a display that was much appreciated by the masses who were living in tougher conditions in Paris.

Versailles was the centre of political power in France from 1682, when Louis XIV moved from Paris, until the royal family was forced to return to the capital in October 1789 after the beginning of the French Revolution. Off with their heads!
